The Carlo Schmidl Theatre Museum<\/strong> records the life of the theatre and the music in Trieste from the Settecento to the present day. You will find jewels and stage costumes, billboards, flyers, photographs, prints, medals, paintings, musical instruments, objects and autographed manuscripts, as well as archival sources.
In view of its richness, variety and the value of its collection, the Civic Museum of the Sea<\/strong> is among the most important scientific institutes in the Mediterranean. BETWEEN PATHS AND CASTLES<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Built between 1856 and 1860, the Castle of Miramare<\/strong> became the residence of Duke Maximilian of Habsburg and his wife Carlotta of Belgium. The Archduke was personally engaged with the planning
of the mansion and the vast, 22-hectare park, an English- and Italian-style garden, rich in rare plants, sculptures and small ponds, descending towards the sea in a series of large steps.
The Castle of Duino<\/strong> lies on the outskirts of Trieste and is immersed within nature in a blend of history, culture and nobility. Belonging to the Princes of Thurn and Taxis, it was built in 1300 on the ruins of a Roman outpost and it stands on a rock overlooking the sea.
A composite, imposing structure dominating the Gulf of Trieste, it houses prominent artworks and refined historical memorabilia.
